Dedicated to "Gimme S'More": a wonderful show pony

Hoof beats thud against the dirt,

Soil smears onto my shirt.

His mane flies in the summery breeze,

This pony is loving and eager to please.

My eyes sparkle in the light of the sun,

We walk out the gate; I wonder if we won?

He's in his stall, I'm watching the show,

Until we get results, it's not time to go.

After a wait, the paper appears,

One look at the top and I shed joyful tears.

Under CHAMPION is not my name,

but it's under RESERVE and that's just the same!

I run to the barn, give my pony a hug,

On goes his halter, on the lead rope I tug.

Smiling with glee, we go for a prance,

Hugging the pony that gave me a chance.
